Symantec launches device for data backup, the NetBackup 5220. This device is the first hardware device manufactured by Symantec. In 5220 already embedded NetBackup backup software belonging to Symantec, NetBackup 7.5.

In general, a company needs its own engine to perform deduplication backup, before being put to a hard disk media servers. By using backup solution from Symantec, the user can perform deduplication of client computer level.
NetBackup 5220 has a variety of features, such as:
- V-Ray technology. This technology is able to protect up to 3,000 VMware virtual machines with a single device.
- Replication Director. The technology is able to accelerate backup and recovery snapshot simultaneously to protect large volumes of data and virtual machines.
- WAN Optimization. Such features allow users to replicate data from one site to another site more quickly.
- NetBackup Acclerator. This feature is claimed to speed up the backup process.
- NetBackup 5220 supports 4TB hard disk capacity of up to 72TB. This device also supports RAID 6 technology.
- NetBackup 5220 is also equipped with a tape output, allowing the user to move the data on your hard disk to tape.
In addition, the NetBackup 5220 has configuration 1Gb Ethernet, 10Gb Ethernet and 8Gb Fibre Channel.
