Tutorial to Install PDANet on Device and PC/Mac OS

Here is link to download PDAnet software to use your android as internet modem. USB Tether and Bluetooth DUN program for Android mobile phone phones. No underlying access needed.This is an old listing of PdaNet. For latest update make sure you look for "PdaNet 3.02" instead. How to download and install this program For Windows 7, Vista and XP:

  3. Open setup file and follow the installation wizard
  4. Restart your PC after finish

Methods to install For Mac OS X

  4. Follow the instruction installation

Once the software has been installed on both your Android phone and your laptop, you can share your phone's Internet connection with your computer. To connect over USB:Connect your Android device to your computer to use PdaNet for tethering

  • Please to open the PdaNet app on your smartphone and select "Enable USB Tether," then use the USB cable to connect the device to your laptop.
  • Please get a pop-up window on the laptop that you can click to connect the phone to PdaNet.
  • Then you may also or alternately have to click on the PdaNet icon in your taskbar, and select "Connect Internet."

If you are want to connect via Bluetooth, the steps are pretty much the same, except you will select "Enable Bluetooth DUN" in the Android app and pair your Android phone with your laptop via Bluetooth rather than via the USB cable.

  1. Make sure your PC has a Bluetooth adapter, whether built-in or an external Bluetooth dongle. (You can check by looking for a Bluetooth icon in your taskbar or the Control Panel.)
  2. Then activate the Bluetooth function on the mobile device (usually found under the Settings menu) and set it to be discoverable or visible.
  3. Look On the PC, right-click on the Bluetooth icon and select the option to add a new connection or device, which will make the computer search for available Bluetooth devices.
  4. When your mobile device appears, select it to connect/pair it to your laptop.
  5. If the process is prompted for a PIN code, try 0000 or 1234 and enter it on both the mobile device when prompted and your laptop.
  6. Now  you're connected, you can perform other actions like wirelessly transferring a file between your devices using either the context menus in applications or right-clicking on a file and looking for "Send to Bluetooth"-types of options.

You should then see the joyful "Connected!" notification on your laptop and be able to surf the Web (albeit not that fast) using your Android's data connection.
