Basic exercises in this section is intended to make use of Photoshop's more easily understood by through a series of practice.
- Create a new file with 250 x 150 pixels wide by white background color (File | New). After that make the text you want with the Type Tool.
- Select the menu Layer | Type | Render Layer ... Select | All >>Edit | Cut>>Edit | Paste
- Press and hold down the Ctrl key and click on the layer palette a layer that contains the text, then select the menu Select | Save Selection and save as "New". Ctrl D (Deselect) and delete the layer that contains the text.
- Select the panel "Channel-Palette" with choices that have been you saved earlier (New).
- Select the menu Filter | Blur | Gaussian Blur with a value 2.5.
- Select the menu Filter | Stylize | Glowing Edges with values "Edge width = 1", "Edge of brightness = 8", "Smoothness = 3".
- Take the channel as an option by clicking the "Load channel as selection" under channel palette.
- Go back to the layer palette, choose Layer | New Layer with the name "madvis", make sure the new layer is being edited. Select the Edit | Fill, set "Use" "to" Black ". Ctrl D (deselect).
- Select the menu Layer | Duplicate Layer .. , Make sure the "madvis" along with copies being edited and that the checkbox "preserve transparency" is not selected. Then select the menu Filter | Other | Offset with value of 2 and 2.
