The Phenomenon of Missed Calls on Cell phone

Mobile phones seem to have become a thing that must be owned by everyone. In fact, the mobile phone was already shifting from a pay phone stand formerly very popular among the people because there are everywhere. Convenience offered by mobile phones is enormous, ranging from easy to carry anywhere, its compact shape, so it can meet the needs of people who are always moving so it will be difficult to use when contacting business associates or friends if they have to find a pay phone. As it continues to grow, mobile phone prices even more affordable. In 1991, a cell phone the size of a half sleeve adult worth around 10 million dollars. Today, a mobile phone can be purchased at a price of 300 thousand dollars, with features that are much better than a cell phone released in 1991.
The proliferation of cell phones also make these tiny objects become part of community life. Features contained in it makes people have to adapt, one of which is the Caller ID feature that correlates with a missed call notification name that will be discussed in this paper. Caller ID is a feature phone (although it was later applied also on the line) to show the number called us and if the number is already stored in the mobile phone contact list, the name of the caller will appear on the display. This feature allows users simply to figure out who is calling, because there are times when a person does not want to receive calls from multiple parties or he was annoyed with the number.
Mobile phones also related to the economy. To perform a call, then we must have a pulse. Sometimes, pulse owned already a bit but we have to perform various activities. It happens then is anyone going to do a call but will be closed prior to appointment. In the mobile phone display the intended person will appear an article "one missed call". Missed call is literally defined as a missed call. Text that will appear also called notification of the missed calls.
But what happens is the missed call into a phenomenon, it can even translate into something that is widely known by the public. In Rwanda, missed call could be interpreted as a request to call back. But not only that, the missed call can be interpreted as a sign that we have come to a place and do a missed call to the destination just say goodnight. Yes, missed call has evolved into an action that has unwritten rules in society. There is no legislation governing the use of a missed call, or statements of religious scholars. Just unwritten agreement "approved" by the community.
Missed call itself has some rules (Donner, 2007) that did missed call to someone who has a pulse more, do a missed call to family or friends when out of time, when you're expecting a good treatment should never do the missed call, and do not do missed call too much. For these three reasons, may have a negative impact on relationships, in this example is when a businessman chasing a contract with its customers. Employers are unlikely to missed calls to prospective customers because it can result in a failed contract he got what he wanted.
The phenomenon of missed call also brought changes in many aspects. One is from the telecom operators themselves. Increasing the number of missed calls on Rwanda to make some operators create new services that can be interpreted as "call me". One of the carriers that offer these features are Vodacom (Donner, 2007). Vodacom offers short messaging service that can tell a person to immediately call the sender of the message for free. These services utilize the situation in Rwanda which, according to the research 38% of mobile phone users carry out a missed call on a regular basis.
Indeed, the missed call is a phenomenon that occurs due to the technology used. People see a gap in this feature: it can be interpreted as a desire or a precarious situation that forces the target to immediately call back. Initially, just a missed call notification only. This condition also makes the astute operator use, by offering free services that have previously been described. Therefore, the phenomenon of multiple interpretations missed call can be classified into Technological Determinism.
In Indonesia, more or less similar phenomenon occurred in Rwanda. Society defines a missed call as a signal to call back, but just end there, not like in Rwanda that can be interpreted various kinds. This phenomenon occurs mostly in their teens, for a variety of things ranging from running credit or do not want to sacrifice pulse owned. Mobile phone operator in Indonesia was not close eye on it. Indosat has launched the "Call Me" that allows the user requested that family and friends call her via short message service and not be charged for the text message. This service also received positive feedback from the community, because this is what is needed in times of shortage the pulse.
