Basis Theory Cellphone and Children (part II)

In the study of human development (human development), there are several theories that judging from the science of psychology. Each theory emphasizes the aspects of growth and development of different, but all the existing theory contains the same red line means looking on the definition of human development from birth, childhood, into adulthood. These theories are Cognitive Psychology, Psychoanalysis, Behaviorism and Humanistic. The focus of this research is directed at the behavior of children who have mobile phones. Therefore the theory that we consider relevant to be used as the basis for doing research is the theory of Behaviorism.
In Behaviorism theory explained that the development of individual behavior always follow the rules of stimulus - response [PAP98]. Stimulus can be defined as things that trigger an individual to do something, while the response was a reaction to a trigger / stimulus that shape the behavior of the individual concerned. Individuals are not considered to play a role in determining behavior, because behavior (response) requires conditioning (stimulus) as a trigger. Behavior can also grow from the observation environment.
Popularity is considered something that is important to a child during growth especially in the middle of a child (in the cognitive theory at the age of 7-11 years / concrete operational stage or in the psychoanalytic theory of elementary school at the time). Popularity is not limited to a child's fame among his friends because he was a public figure, but rather an opinion of a group of children in a child receiving their enviromenment. This is important because at the time a child is likely to spend more time with other children and was very influenced by the opinions of a group of children [TUR83].
The popular kids usually have good cognitive thinking skills, are able to solve social problems with good, soft hands to other children and are able to put themselves disuatu environment (assertive) [HUI03]. On the other hand, children who do not have the ability to interact socially popular is not good, in the sense of lack of flexibility in the mix.
Popularity is influenced by several factors, namely:
• Family and cultural
A family is the smallest unit of society where one of its functions is to educate. Parents who educate children democratically tend to get better results on their children than parents who educate authoritatively 1). Culture in the environment affect the popularity of the child is raised in terms of the characteristics / properties owned by a child to say popular or accepted by the other children.
• Friends and friendship
Friend is one in which a child feels comfortable being near him, do something with it and have to give-take relationship. Friendship begins with a choice, children tend to find / select friends of his own age and have an interest to be a friend. Through relationships with friends or friendships, children learn how to communicate, cooperate and control their emotions and help them build confidence.
Based on the characteristics of child development described above, ownership of mobile phones by children relating to psychological development especially in developing social interaction and communication skills and the desire to be accepted in the interaction (popularity). Creativity, ego and environmental conditions (whether his friends have cell phones) can trigger psychologically a child to have a mobile phone.
